Weight Management
and Bariatric Medicine

Heike Bailin, MD

A Message from Dr. Heike Bailin:

I founded ShapevolutionTM to provide highly personalized care to people with weight problems. My approach to assessment and treatment integrates the biomedical and psychosocial spheres. I believe that patients benefit most when they autonomously and actively participate in the design of an individualized program.

I strongly believe in evidence-based medicine. For the best possible treatment outcomes for our patients of all ages, I work within a network of healthcare professionals including other medical specialists, nutritionists, and exercise physiologists. This multidisciplinary approach has resulted in more lasting success and greater satisfaction for many people.

I am a board-certified Family Physician with special interests in Bariatric Medicine, Bioethics, and Preventive Medicine. I attended college and medical school at the University of Maryland followed by an internship in General Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1996/97. I completed residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Wyoming in 2001.

In my work as a primary care provider and bariatrician, I seek to combine my passionate interest in disease prevention with a healthy lifestyle, which includes an active engagement with the world around me and enjoying the rich experiences life has to offer. My professional affiliations include the AAFP (American Academy of Family Physicians), AOA (American Obesity Association), NAASO (North American Association for the Study of Obesity), and ASBP (American Society of Bariatric Physicians).
